A daemonic threat, Chapter 3

"The attack yesterday in Jazan's castle Luna's Gate have many wondering. Is the terrorist organisation, The Hand of God involved? Reports are also surfacing that Prince Ukita Moroharu has been arrested this morning. There are links tying him with Imperial Commander Asato Kane, the gunman identified this morning by police." A news lady said from the television playing in the background as Zeki got dressed in the bathroom. "It is unclear at the moment whether The Hand of God was involved. Yesterday they took credit for the recent mass shooting. Over four hundred civilians were killed just last week."

Zeki gazed towards the mirror as the steam from his shower died down. His naked reflection stared back towards him as he thought about yesterday. Zeki could see memories of yesterday's attack playing in his mind.  It was somewhat blurred by adrenaline and panic.

When he summoned a magical barrier against special ammunition it took it's toll. He rubbed his aching arms feeling like he had a rough workout yesterday. The shield he summoned had left him drained completely. Zeki didn't know that he had past out yesterday. Everyone was worried to death about him, he was in a coma like state.

Zeki's eyes started glowing with power, he knew this meant another attack was imminent. He was lost in his thoughts now as he worried about the two brothers. I don't know how the shield stopped the bullets, he used military grade bullets. Those are designed to deal with magic users like me. This situation escalated beyond control. Another attack is coming, I pray my body can withstand another magic barrier. Zeki thought to himself as he started getting dressed, he picked a nice regular outfit to wear.

Zeki couldn't shake the thought, some other force was involved here. He shook his head and left the bathroom, his hair still dripping wet. As Zeki watched the news he dried his long dark hair with a towel. He watched the news played a clip of him, he saw the shield stop the bullets. The camera zoomed in on the bullets to show the viewers that it was legit. As it zoomed in Zeki saw a boy next to Juzo. It was odd because he could barely see him, the boy had curly blonde hair and blue eyes. He could faintly see two white angelic wings behind the boy.

But the camera immediately switched and the young boy was gone. Zeki figured it was just a glitch, his eyes darted towards a pillow on his bed. That's where he kept a licensed handgun. "It'd be a different story if I brought you along." Zeki said to himself, he wondered what chance he had against an imperial commander.

He could feel the training he went through in school to earn that gun. He went to a special school before coming to help Juzo. A school where they train students basic combat skills. It was hell, but he came out with an ID locked gun and a shield he could summon. He was always safe and careful with the weapon treating it with care. It only activates by his hand when holding it.

As Zeki fantasized about playing hero he jumped at the sound of someone knocking. His green eyes glanced towards the door. "Who is it?" Zeki asked as he tossed his towel on the bed. It landed on one of three boxes he had to unpack still, it was just some old books.

"It’s me Juzo. Thank god you're awake now, can we talk?" Juzo asked as he stood outside the door bitting his lip. He scratched his head as he waited for Zeki to open the door. As Zeki opened the door he watched as Juzo bowed his head down suddenly. He saw Juzo's blonde hair dangling against his face.

Juzo closed his eyes as he spoke, he could see flashes from yesterday's attack playing in his mind. He saw the man's gun aimed right at them, even his cold remorseless face as he pulled the trigger. "I-I'm sorry for selfishly placing you in harms way. P-please forgive me, I won't put you in danger anymore. I'm asking you to leave me to whatever fate has in store. Save yourself, this escalated out of control."

Zeki scratched the back of his neck as he looked away from Juzo. Man he was actually that concerned about me. Zeki thought to himself as he faced Juzo again, he put his hand on Juzo's shoulder and said. "We're alive aren't we? I mean we all kinda miscalculated the situation, but I'm still willing to help. You need a shield, without me you and Ren would be dead now."

Juzo straightened himself up and faced Zeki, Zeki's cheeks turned a little red. I don't understand how he can continue helping me, does he have a death wish? Juzo thought to himself as Zeki stood there still willing to help. "B-but, why? Are you crazy, these people want me dead. Their using military grade weapons designed to pierced magical barriers, this is insane bro. I don't know what you did, but it worked this time. What if next time it doesn't work? This was just luck."

Geeze he's so stubborn, I really want to help you Juzo. But you gotta trust me dude. Zeki thought as he pulled his hand away. "Dude don't jinx me. I know about this ammo, but I have a feeling that something is watching over us. Who or what I don't know, but I definitely felt a presence back there. I know you felt it as well. I'm determined to help you and figure out who this spirit is as well."

Juzo didn't want to remember that feeling at all, it was freaky sensing that dark energy. It covered him like a blanket of warm darkness, he felt something else too. "I'd rather not know who or what it is. Ghost are freaky... I'll let you do whatever you want Zeki, I won't stop you. If your fine with this then do you want to hangout together? My brother left with my dad and I'm bored since Izaya and Lily are at school now."

"Hell yeah, you wouldn't mind helping me put a few things away would you? It's just some old books my father left me, he said they would be helpful. Afterwards we can play a game or watch a movie.  Or find something else to do." Zeki said as he opened the door letting Juzo inside his room. He closed the door behind Juzo and walked over to his bed.

As Juzo entered he could hear the news lady talking. She was discussing police brutality in the west as well as a rise in racism and hate. Zeki lowered the volume as he looked at all the dusty books. Juzo liked what Zeki did to the room, the things he brought looked cool. This room looks so nice and comfortable, and he has the next generation game console. Juzo thought to himself as he looked around, it was stuff any kid would like. "Wow, you really changed the room. It's nice Zeki, your bed is big and I like the red color."

"It's comfortable to, here's some boxes I used to gather my father's magic books. He said we would find them useful whatever that means, he was being very weird about it. I think there's some weird grimoire about demons and the primordial god of chaos and darkness." Zeki said as he took a box full of heavy old books, some looked dusty as if nobody read them for awhile. He carried them over to the bookshelf which was near the T.V.

Juzo picked up the last two boxes stacked full of books, it was heavy but Juzo could handle this. He set them down next to Zeki, as Juzo opened the boxes he could see the old books inside. "I like old books like these, but I've never seen these before to be honest. Your father is cool Zeki, maybe they have something to do with what we felt yesterday. This is weird."

They both began filling the bookshelf together, Zeki gave Juzo's question a thought as he worked the bottom shelf. "Yes that's what I was thinking. It is odd, he is psychic like you so he probably knew what would happen. I'll have to ask when I get a chance, I just got up not too long ago so I didn't get to call him yet."

"These are magic books aren't they? I like reading them, I read one about chaos and apocalypse magic. I like those even though they're scary." Juzo said as he finished a box already, he started his last box working quick.

They both worked quickly together filling up the bookshelf neatly. Zeki thought it was odd Juzo was into higher tier magic like that. "My father is a bit of a collector of grimoires. So you've read some interesting ones? I only read about shielding and firebolt. Firebolt is a plasma like attack that produces electric shock as well, it warps and weakend metal. And you saw the shielding in action."

"I was told I'm weird, I can't do magic. I think firebolt sounds cool though. It also sounds deadly and destructive, I like those spells. The magic I like is that of a demon lord's, like my father's magic. It's very destructive and he can total lose control over himself. That's why he is the lord of wrath a destructive sin where you lose control, it's pure chaos." Juzo said, he was clearly fond of the chaos, it always intrigued him how complex magic can be. It can be helpful and destructive, healing and killing, light and dark, and so many other things all wrapped in one.

Zeki looked up towards Juzo, he could see the twinkle in his eyes. He never would've imagined Juzo had such interest in magic. "I'd offer to teach you, but I guess that wouldn't work. I bet you just haven't awakened yet. You should try it again. I can try to teach you firebolt if you want, it's difficult but I think you'll get it if you have even a little magic."

"I've tried many times using easy spells, but nothing. I imagine I would be pretty good, but no. I have all this knowledge and I've read many grimoires over and over, it doesn't matter. I just can't do it." Juzo said as he placed the last heavy grimoire on the top shelf, he was now done as Zeki was finishing his.

Suddenly the grimoire up on the top shelf actually jumped out. It hit Zeki right on the head causing him to cry out in agony. The black grimoire opened on the floor to a page discussing a great and mighty president of hell, Valac. It showed an artistic depiction of an angelically winged boy with blonde curls of hair. Juzo closed it and put it away, he then checked on Zeki. Zeki was rubbing his head from the pain, a tear streamed down his face.

"Zeki, I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" Juzo asked as he checked on Zeki who was rubbing the top of his head still. Juzo got closer to Zeki and checked for blood or anything like a bruise. Zeki immediately pulled away from Juzo's touch his face was burning red as he got up.

"I'll live, but that really hurt... let's just take a break now, we earned it. I'll set up the game for us if you want unless you have something else in mind." Zeki said, he looked away from Juzo towards the game console. He went over to it and started setting it up as Juzo sat down on a nice white and gold designed couch. It felt nice and looked elegant and very pricy.

Juzo heard a little meow and turned towards the pet carrier he totally missed. He could see the kitten's black furry paw reaching towards them behind the bars. Zeki turned and saw Juzo looking towards his kitten blushing. I can't believe I forgot to show Juzo my kitten, I hope nobody would mind him being here. Zeki thought to himself as he said. "If you want you can let him out, I washed him earlier since he got all messy."

Juzo did just that and the kitten thanked him by pouncing on his shoe. The little black fur ball wrestled with the white shoelace. Juzo giggled as he wrestled the kitten off of his shoe, the little thing looked up at him meowing. "I love him already, he's so playful. Where did you get him? And what's his name? I love cats, but I love little kittens more."

"I call him Dez. I found him outside my father's palace, someone put him inside a box. They just left him there, I knew he needed a home so I took him in. He helped me through a rough time, my friends left me and my life fell apart." Zeki said as he finished setting up the game, he started up a top rated open world roleplaying game.

Juzo set the kitten down as Zeki sat next to him, the kitten jumped on Zeki's arm. Juzo watched him climbed up to Zeki's shoulder. I wonder what happened to Zeki's friends? I don't want to pry to much in his life, but I should know. We are friends now. Juzo thought to himself as he played with the black fur ball on Zeki's shoulder. "You wouldn't mind if I asked why your friends left?" Juzo asked as the kitten pounced on him climbing up his red shirt.

Zeki sighed as he looked towards the floor, he contemplated whether he should answer Juzo's question or not. Juzo wouldn't understand, I can't tell him I'm gay unless he knows. He wouldn't know would he? Zeki thought to himself, but he eventually told Juzo anyway. "I told them that I was gay, and everyone said that I should kill myself. I told myself to be strong, but tmy friends avoided like the plague. My parents supported me and other people have, but when I need my friends they left me."

Juzo couldn't believe the way Zeki wad treated by his friends. He could hear how much this had effected Zeki just by his voice alone. I will not stand for this, if his friends won't support him then I will. Juzo thought to himself as he balled his hands into fists. "That's so horrible, they should be ashamed of themselves. I'm cool with you liking whatever, who am I to judge. I'm glad you told me though, your always welcome here my friend. You are strong, your pretty cool to. Stopping bullets in midair was badass even if it was reckless."

The door suddenly opened, juzo saw his brother enter Zeki's room. Ren glanced towards Juzo, he saw his brother's arm around Zeki. They already looked like close friends now, Ren smiled as he joined them wearing his training uniform still. "There you are Juzo, hey Zeki. Glad you came through alright broski. You have earned my friendship by saving our asses yesterday. Thank you my man. Geeze that was so damn close though, I for sure thought we were all toast. I wish I could've beat his ass before he drew that damn gun, what bitch."

Ren's blue eyes met his brother's glare for his use of profanity. Ren has a habit of cussing which never fails to anger his parents and Juzo. Ren had a big cheesy grin on his face as he plopped down next to Juzo. Zeki cleared his throat as he got up and faced the two brothers. "I-it was nothing, I'm glad we all survived. We must be more vigilant and careful, I will continue to support you two. I really appreciate you guys for letting me stay here and being so kind, thank you my new friends."

"Yeah were cool dude, that guy caught us slipping. That's why I hit the shooting range with dad. I even scored two hundred points over his score. If I past the test tomorrow I can get my gun license. Then I could get that Guardian handgun, I'll be able to protect us bro. We won't need some knight watching us... I got caught twice trying to sneak out last night, unbelievable." Ren said, he wasn't liking Ella Grayman anymore. No more sneaking out and getting into trouble under her sharp eyes.

The boys began to talk about guns unaware that they were being watched. Within another dimension lurked a daemon. The regal looking prince watched from his throne room dressed in black and gold. Before him stood a large black mirror, it peered into the human realm using ancient magic. His glowing violet eyes singled Juzo out, he could sense something familiar yet foreign about the boy.

The daemon grinned as he raised his hand forward towards Juzo. His nails looked very sharp and his skin looked pale. A second later and Juzo stood up, he felt something was about to happen. Then Juzo immediately rubbed his forehead as a very sharp pain struck him. Zeki's eyes started glowing once again as he saw the pain on Juzo's face. Juzo turned pale and he started sweating profusely. A second later and his strength was taken from him, it caused him to black out. Juzo hit the ground and he began having a violent seizure.

Ren and Zeki panicked as they yelled for help, Zeki kept Juzo's head safe. The daemon smiled seeing the curse taking hold of Juzo. But a boy with curly blonde hair appeared in all the chaos. Nobody seemed to be able to see the boy as security rushed into the room. The boy stood naked, his wings spread out in a display of power. Valac summoned an astral weapon in his hands. A powerful looking spear appeared, he raised it up and smiled.

It was a blur when the boy attacked, but the entire black mirror suddenly exploded. It was very violent with an overwhelming amount of power. Black shards flew past the daemon prince as he rose from his throne.

Many shards scraped by slicing the daemon's elegant face and body. He didn't even flinch as one shard struck his right eye. He dug the glass out of his eye without the slightest sign of any pain. The eye began to bleed now, he hovered his hand over it healing himself with magic. Afterwards the daemon ran his hands through his long silver hair. He shook loose dark glass shards and other debris from the explosion. When it was finally over his mirror was destroyed preventing him from spying. He found himself standing in a sea of black obsidian shards looking like glass. Even so the damage was done to his target.
